Good Morning

Its a good morning to make a big pot of coffee and some really great omelets, blast music and paint.  I thought I would share with you a really cute project to make for Valentine's Day and some of my favorite cookies. I am also thinking about shopping today so maybe I will find something really fabulous.

Here are some stuffed valentine hearts I am going to make with some of my tiny little artists at school. They are fun for everyone. And if you are like me you have all the materials hanging around anyway.

Valentine Heart Decorations

you need:
scissors
either felt or fleece as much or as little as
you want. In any colors.
hot glue, or tacky glue, or even Elmer's glue
(you can used a needle and thread if you like to sew. )
sequins or rhinestones or buttons.
ribbon
stuffing you can even use potpourri or something that smells good.

All you need to do is double up the fabric and cut out a heart.
this way you can sandwich the hearts and they match up.
take one heart and hot glue around the edge.
Leave about one or two inches open to stuff your heart.

Stuff it. Then you can go ahead and glue the rest shut.
During this time you can stick some ribbon inside the hearts top edge to attach a hanger while you are closing up the heart.

Let your glue dry for a while.

Then you are free to decorate
the front of your heart.

This is what mine looks like.
aren't they sweet?

Peanut Butter Cookies

Here is a recipe my mom got from her friend for gluten free peanut butter cookies.
For those of you who don't know what gluten-free means...... I am gluten intolerant. Basically it mean that your body can't tolerate gluten protein. Gluten is found in wheat, rye, barley and all its derivatives. You can visit Celiac Chicks to find out more.
I can't eat a lot of processed food and I can't walk into most places and buy cookies, or cakes, or bread, or things of that nature. Sadly a lot of gluten free food is not that delicious. so I make a lot of foods myself. I also have to be very very careful of what my food touches because if it
touches something with gluten in it I get very sick.
It isn't fun.
But these cookies are really great. Sven people who can eat gluten love them.

They are so easy.

ingredients:
1 cup peanut butter
( I like Skippy's natural or else they are too sweet and it seems to be the best texture)
1 cup of sugar
1 egg
Some dark chocolate kisses if you wish.

Pre heat the oven to 350.
mix the ingredients together and drop them in one inch balls onto a cookie sheet.
cook them for 10 minutes or till they lighten up and get a little stiffer.
take them out and place one dark chocolate kiss on the top. press lightly.

then gently loosen them from the pan and place them on a dish to cool. They harder up.
(then are even better if you put them in the fridge and eat them cold.)

only problem is they break pretty easily.

Survival package for the winter

I should mention that I really don't like winter but I do really like snow days so I can stay home and paint, and snow days are the only time that I have free time, and since its so cold out on snow days I won't leave my house to go to target or yoga or anything else.
But right now I am very sad about the weather and how cold it is and all I am thinking of is South Carolina and Georgia when I was visiting in the fall so here are some pictures that make me feel so warm and happy. I have been begging my husband to move the Charleston, South Carolina. He hasn't agreed yet but I will break him....... one day.

(These were taken at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina.)

In the meantime here are a couple of things that help get me through the winter....

-Philosophy shower gel in the cookie scents. I also want like 8 other scents.

-My new Coral Cabana lip gloss by Vincent Longo Its sparkly! and it was 75% off at Sephora!

-nail polish in any hot pink, green or turquoise shade

-drinking hot chocolate with my mom

-gluten free peanut butter cookies with dark chocolate kisses.
(Recipe coming soon)

-and anything mango, pineapple or coconut scented.

-a mad bomber hat and a really great scarf.

-Sunshine. (I am lucky enough to have a wonderful sunporch)

-oh and snuggling.
